It is known that a group of high-luminosity low-mass X-ray binaries show spectral changes that are characterized by a Z-shaped trajectory on color-color or color-intensity diagrams. Two simple accretion disk models are considered in connection with these spectral transitions, especially along the normal branch. In model A, we fix the disk temperature and assume the inner edge of the disk (rin) to be variable. A comparison with observations demands that rin should increase as the system evolves from the upper turning point (between the horizontal branch and the normal branch) to the lower one (between the horizontal branch and the flaring branch). However, its physical cause is unknown. In model B, we find that a decreases from about 0.75 (at the upper turning point) to 0.67 (near the lower one). The decrease in a indicates the presence of a wind mass loss from the disk. Possible mechanisms for producing disk winds are briefly discussed.
