Abel integral transformation is one of the most widely used methods to retrieve atmospheric refractive index in GPS/LEO radio occultation technique probing the Earth's atmosphere. A new direct analytical approach is proposed in this paper to Abel integral transformation, thus the singular point of integral is avoided, and computation process is simplified. By numerical simulations of occultation events, it is proved that the new method not only has a simple mathematical expression and the minimum computer time consuming, but also a least computation error.
