The Robinson, Schild, and Strauss explicit solution of the
Einstein-Maxwell equations is considered. Two subclasses of this
solution are determined: (i) the class of metrics for which both
eigenvectors of the Maxwell field are eigenvectors of the Weyl tensor,
and (ii) the class of metrics of Petrov typeD.
