The excitation of a new class of spectral lines - pseudo-resonance absorption lines - under conditions of planetary nebulae is held to be possible. The lines are formed by permitted atomic transitions from the metastable levels to the upper subordinate, but not metastable, levels. It is noted that the observation of pseudo-resonance lines of 'nebular' origin is possible only on the spectra of the nuclei of planetary and diffuse nebulae in the form of absorption lines. A table setting forth a preliminary list of pseudo-resonance lines is given. Since all the lines are located in the region of vacuum ultraviolet (1000-3000 A), their observation is possible only under space conditions. The formation of pseudo-resonance lines in stellar photospheres and in the interstellar medium is also held to be possible.
