Possible mechanisms of creating ions the absorption lines of which are seen in the spectra of nearby (d < 50 pc) white dwarfs are considered. It is shown that the interstellar ion Si III is partially formed in the thermal conductivity zone between the H I cloud (T = 104K) in which the sun is placed and the surrounding coronal gas (T > 105K), and partially in the H II zone around the observed star. The column density ratio N(Si IV)/N(Si III) ⪆ 10 observed in the direction of the white dwarf G191-B2B finds the best explanation in the model of a non-stationary H II zone around this star.
