The electron density fluctuation in the cometary plasma tail derived from the radio source scintillation measurements by assuming the typical values of tail plasma density and velocity is an over-simplification. In this paper, enhanced scintillation in the direction of quasar 3C411 while occulted by comet Austin is used along with the plasma density values derived from the optical observations and realistic values for velocity to re-examine the previous results. It is shown that the ion density modulation is 40% in contrast to the earlier results.
