Globular clusters produce close binaries between neutron stars and companions at a rate that is hundreds of times greater than for field stars. In elliptical galaxies, globular clusters contain a significant fraction of neutron star binaries, so we have considered whether they produce a significant fraction of Type Ia supernovae. We use archival HST and ground-based data for 20 SN Ia events in nearby galaxies, most occurring during the past 15 years. In several cases, the supernovae are near regions of visible extinction, which would be consistent with the progenitor being more massive than the typical low mass star in early-type galaxies. In our sample, we find no clear correlation of a supernova position and a bright globular cluster. However, in two cases, there is a faint point source present prior to the supernova event. This counterpart is either a low-luminosity globular cluster, a background point source, or the progenitor system to a SNIa event. In the latter case, this would be the first time a pre-SNIa progenitor has been seen.
