Observational detection thresholds naturally define three-dimensional volumes for gravitational lenses within which a single lens or source must fall to be detected. Integration over these detection volumes and the corresponding interior number density yields the probability of detection of single lens phenomena. Amplification and angular separation criteria are used to calculate the probability of detecting compact and isothermal lenses in Newtonian and Einstein-de Sitter cosmologies.
