The main results of certain works concerning the optical variability of quasar like objects and Latsertides are considered. The correlation between radio and optical variability is indicated. A series of tests is proposed to check the supposition of the existence of the anisotropic variable component of non-thermal radiation. In particular, radiation sources with a known structure of extended components are presented.
