We discuss the form of the spectrum of density fluctuations in the interstellar medium. A simple stratified model of the Galaxy is considered, and the variation of scattering with galactic latitude and longitude is discussed. The density fluctuations have a scale height ˜71 pc. Scattering and diffuse Hα emission in the Galaxy appear to be correlated.
