Supernova explosions are considered nowadays as the unique source of elements heavier than iron. The nuclei of these elements are formed through multiple joining together of neutrons. Our Earth was formed out of atoms of these elements dispersed in space after the explosion. One can tell, that every atom of our body, heavier than hydrogen and helium, originated in the interior of a star, while atoms heavier than iron, like for inst. iodine, originated in supernova explosions.
