This paper derives the average period of occurrence of syzygies (conjunctions and oppositions) of p planets in unperturbed, coplanar, circular orbits about the sun. Numerical results indicate the reliability of the theory and applications are suggested. For example, the theory is relevant to the search for resonances and near mirror configurations.
