The several possible sources of the spurious nonprecessional motion of the equinox point are described, and a method is outlined for establishing this effect in the Fundamental Catalog. Special observations of 10 selected asteroids have been used to determine corrections to the FK 4 equinox and equator positions. The results are in good accord with other independent analyses.
