A mechanism of formation of the ion distribution function of cosmic rays in the sources of cosmic rays is considered. The time of establishment of the degree spectrum of ions as the result of interaction with electrons of cosmic rays is evaluated. This mechanism is effective only under the conditions when the density of cosmic rays is sufficiently large, i.e., in the sources of cosmic rays, but not in the interstellar space.
