Recent spectral observations of 3C273 from the HST give the first chance to compare the distribution of the so-called Ly-alpha clouds with the distribution of normal galaxies. We demonstrate that, in the nearby region, the coincidence of redshifts is rather good. Further spectral observations of low-redshift quasars and deep redshift surveys of normal galaxies in the same directions are needed to draw statistically significant conclusions.
