A mathematical analysis is made of the solutions of the system of equations that govern linear adiabatic oscillations of a uniformly and synchronously rotating component of a binary. The tidal axis is taken perpendicular to the axis of rotation. The solutions of the equations are examined up to the second order with respect to the angular velocity. Special attention is devoted to the degeneracy of the eigenvalue problem of the linear adiabatic oscillations of a spherically symmetric star (the zeroth order approximation). In particular, it is shown that the tidal perturbation already affects the eigenfunctions at the first order approximation.
