Recent data from Helios 1-2 space probes supports the previously advanced procedure (Dumont, 1973) for obtaining the inversion of the zodiacal light brightness integral and confirms the isotropic character of the phase function of the interplanetary grains. The method is applied to data for scattering at angles between 5 and 45 deg, and the results indicate an isotropic trend of the phase function at similar scattering angles, or at most a moderate increase. This finding suggests that models with a very rapid increase in the phase function (or with intense forward scattering by interplanetary grains) are no longer tenable.
