A transient effect on the flow of a compressible thermally radiating and electrically-conducting gas in a rotating medium bounded by a vertical flat plate is analyzed for the case when the radiative flux satisfies the exact integral equation. The results are compared with results obtained by Bestman and Adjepong (1988) for the case when the radiative flux satisfies a general differential approximation. It is found that, near the plate, the exponential behavior in terms of the time and space variables is the same for the two cases. However, away for the plate, the temperature-variation functions are different.
