It is pointed out that the observations from COS-B have provided a new and more detailed picture of the high energy gamma-ray emission from the Galaxy. The first COS-B catalog with 13 localized sources which has been compiled by Hermsen et al. (1977) is discussed. After the publication of this catalog, the role of the sources is now more emphasized and several attempts to identify some with galactic or extragalactic objects are being proposed. It is noted that a variable radio source and a QSO have been discovered near the position of CG135 plus 1. The discussion shows that identifications based on positional 'class comparison' are generally premature and inconclusive, causing the errors associated with the position of gamma sources. A more useful approach is to identify individual sources by looking for definite time-structures appearing at different wavelengths and/or peculiar energy spectra.
