Massive black holes are thought to be common in galactic centers. However their formation and evolution is still unknown. To investigate this problem, a 2-dimensional hydrodynamics code for the interstellar gas was developed based on the numerical methods used by Tscharnuter. The calculations showed an initial collapse of the gas, leading towards the formation of an accretion disk. However, numerical difficulties made it impossible to follow the evolution beyond this point. Therefore a 1-dimensional accretion disk code was written to follow the viscous evolution of the central region. Using both the standard α-viscosity, as well as the new β-viscosity proposed by Duschl et al. the evolution of the accretion disks was investigated. As a result the numerical calculations have proven, that the accretion of infalling material through an accretion disk can account for the formation of massive black holes in galactic centers.
