Latitude observations of 25,260 star pairs obtained with the ZTL-180 vertical zenith tube at the Tianjin Latitude Station of Beijing Observatory (on the line 39 deg 08 min N) during 1960-1966 are analyzed for lunar-tide effects, determining the compound Love number (Lambda) from the north-south component of the M2 wave by a technique based on the method of Djurvic (1976). The results are presented in a table and graph, and it is found that the overall Lambda value (1.34 + or - 0.10), when reduced to remove the effect of ocean tides to 1.315, is in good agreement with the Lambda value deduced geophysically for Asia by Sugawa (1965), 1.31. The corresponding M2-wave amplitude is 0.0108 arcsec.
