We suggest to use the index E = 1 -N Σ[Pi(1 - Pi)]/(ΣPiΣ(1 -Pi )) as a measure of the effectiveness of a given method of calculating membership probabilities. The various models based on Sander's method were examined this way. Generally speaking, kinematic data (proper motion, radial velocity) are effective observational criteria.
