It is shown that the data on the distribution of O-B stars with respect to the galactic latitude indicate the influence of a systematic effect on their spectral classification. It is suggested that this effect is due either to the increasing helium content in the atmospheres of these stars with increasing age or to the existence of a correlation between the abundance of elements heavier than helium in these stars and their spatial and kinematic characteristics.
