The most important mean physical parameters are estimated and compared for two groups of planetary nebulae: those located in the general field and those belonging to a large group observed toward the galactic center. The mean central-star temperature for the planetaries of each group (regarded as single complexes) is determined by solving the energy-balance equation for free electrons in a nebula; the optical depth is also estimated, and the role of inelastic collisions in hydrogen-atom excitation is taken into account. The mean electron temperature for the planetaries of both groups is computed along with the mean electron density, the mean degree of ionization, the mean central-star radius and luminosity, as well as the mean nebular shell radius and mass. The results obtained are used to place the studied planetaries into a general evolutionary scheme whereby the galactic-center objects are at the earliest stage of evolution while the general-field planetaries are at a later stage (in transition from optically thick to optically thin nebulae).
