The applicability of the method of the geodesic deviations to relaxation processes in stellar systems is studied. The one-dimensional self-gravitating N-sheet model, is used to investigate the relationship of the value of the curvature in the equation of the geodesic deviations to two relaxation time-scales observed in numerical simulations. The expected correspondence between them does not exist. It follows that the rapid time-scale of the relaxation, suggested by Gurzadyan and Savvidy (1986), has nothing to do with the evolution of macroscopic observables.
