Ferrin's solution (1977) is applied to the observations of Kohoutek 1973 XII made by Ishii and Tamura (1980). The reanalysis presented here demonstrates that collisions are indeed important in this comet and that the rotational temperature can be inferred from the observations. The rotational temperature of the comet at a solar distance of 0.83 AU is found to be 445 + or - 30 K. It is also shown that collisions are important in populating the lower vibration level and that the constant R(1) in this and other comets is close to 1.0 x 10 to the -4th.
