An investigation is conducted concerning the possible relation between the gamma-ray burst of August 16, 1976 and a radio event with a duration of 30 seconds which occurred one minute after the burst. The possibility of an involvement of white dwarfs or neutron stars is considered. However, it is found difficult to reconcile the observed phenomena with the existing theoretical assumptions regarding both types of stars.
