An analytical two-component model of star formation (SF) process with damping effects is presented. It is shown that the one-zone model producing a regime of rare bursts may be extended to a distributed model. Quantitative estimates of the SF wave velocity (2 - 3 km/s) and the size (≡200 pc) of the domain, where a stationary SF wave exists, are obtained.
