In order to test the validity of the Lense-Thirring approximation (1918) in the context of models proposed for SS 433, a second-order theory of precession is developed. It is shown that if the matter is accreting into the black hole, the spin of the black hole is expected to change and, in turn, the observed precession period of 163.8 days due to the Lense-Thirring effect is going to change. The propagation of light signals within a few Schwarzschild radii of the black hole surface, in the ring models, may lead to the observation of further relativistic effects.
