Motions of knots in an active prominence are investigated using the analysis of the Hα line filtergrams obtained at the Sacramento Peak Observatory. It is found that in the upper part of the trajectory, i.e. at velocities less than that of the sound, separate fragments of the prominence practically move when affected by the gravity, while gas-dynamic forces turn out to be a principal reason of decelerating of the knots moving downward. An indirect conclusion is drawn on a short-lived action of the mechanism directly resulting in eruption of the prominence.
