It is shown that linear metrical gravitational theory based on one-tensor field of second order which satisfies the weak equivalence principle is equivalent to, in linear approximation, the general theory of relativity. The more accurate the verifications of the predictions of general relativity with regard to the motion of ultrarelativistic particles in weak gravitational fields, the higher the probability that gravitation can be described by only a one-tensor field.
