Abstract

Referring to a recent study by J. Chabás and B. R. Goldstein (1994; see abstr. 62.004.040) of the astronomical tables composed by the Arabic astronomer Ibn al-Kammâd in the XIIth century in Islamic Spain, the author presents here an alternative reconstruction of Ibn al-Kammâd's table for the "equation of acces of the first point of Aries" - a table of the precession of the vernal eqinox. This new reconstruction is based on an anonymous, hitherto unexplored and unedited Castilian translation of Ibn al-Kammâd's works, made probably in the XIIIth century and kept in the archives of Segovia cathedral.
