The details of how a protoplanetary disk evolves from an initially well-mixed distribution of gas and dust to a system composed mostly of large solids and gas giants like our own solar system is not well understood and is a fundamental question in astronomy. We can refine theories of planet formation and develop timescales for the evolution of planetary systems by studying clearing in the inner regions of protoplanetary disks. We will present results on "transitional disks" which have inner holes in their disks as well as the recently identified "pre-transitional disks" which have gaps within their disks. Using irradiated accretion disk models and Spitzer IRS spectra, we have taken a closer look at the structure of these disks and have quantified their amount of settling and grain growth as well as the sizes of the cleared regions.
