Scientific paper

The paper examines a particular type of large-scale disturbances of electron density in the ionosphere associated with rocket flights. These disturbances are connected with changes in the electrophysical properties of the ionosphere due to the operation of the rocket engine. It is concluded that the formation of the geomagnetic field and the spatial-temporal characteristics of electromagnetic signals arising during the rocket launch can be investigated on the example of the problem of the excitation of MHD waves and their propagation from a magnetic or electric dipole situated between two boundaries with electrophysical properties that differ from those of the disturbed atmosphere. The lower boundary is the underlying surface in the launch region, while the upper boundary is the ionospheric boundary.
