The electric resistivity of the interiors of neutron stars can significantly increase in the presence of a magnetic field which strongly influences the motion of the charge carriers. The internal magnetic field may decay, irrespectively of its initial value, to about 10 to the 12th G in about 10 to the 7th yr, producing the heat release which delays noticeably the cooling process.
