Infrared observations of 15 OH/IR stars within 30arcmin of the galactic center are reported. The luminosities range from a few ×103L_sun; up to, but not exceeding, the AGB limit (≡6×104L_sun;). This suggests a range in main-sequence progenitors from ≡1 to 9 M_sun; with no clear evidence for massive core-burning supergiants. The infrared and maser properties of this sample are similar to the less extreme (bluer) OH/IR stars found in surveys of the galactic plane. Less than half of the stars near the galactic center have luminosities below 104L_sun;, in contrast to the authors' expectations that they would dominate the statistics.
