Scientific paper

The main infrared and radio properties of the stellar masers OH, H2O and
SiO are reviewed. Maser emission in the three molecules is observed
almost exclusively in M-type Miras with mean spectral types later than
M5 and pulsation period greater than 200 days, semiregular variables,
and M-supergiants of spectral types as early as M3.
