Spectra of SN1985G and SN1985H obtained in 1985 over the 4600-10,000-A wavelength range with the Faint-Object Spectrograph (FOS) on the 2.5-m telescope of the Observatorio del Roque de los Muchachos are presented. The predominant feature in the spectra of both supernovae is the H-alpha feature characteristic of type II supernovae. A Ca II infrared triplet is reported for these supernovae for the first time. The observations demonstrate the ability of the low-resolution FOS to identify faint extragalactic supernovae down to magnitudes M(v) of about 21.
