Consideration is given to the long-period behavior of seafloor electromagnetic fields observed during the Electromagnetic Sounding of the Lithosphere and Asthenosphere Beneath (EMSLAB) the Juan de Fuca plate project. The physics of motional electromagnetic induction is reviewed. It is shown that the seafloor and land magnetic spectra are similar, except for the high-frequency attenuation of the seafloor by the conducting ocean. The seafloor horizontal electric spectra are found to have two components which differ from the magnetic spectra. Specific properties of the seafloor electric fields are discussed, including a 4-day wave propagating north-to-south along the east flank of the Juan de Fuca ridge and an 8-12-day wave propagating north-to-south midway between the ridge and the North American coast.
