During the first MESSENGER flyby of Mercury, the UltraViolet and Visible
Spectrometer channel of the Mercury Atmospheric and Surface Composition
Spectrometer observed Mercury's sodium tail and exosphere. Flybys
provide opportunities for extended tail observations.
