The H II regions M17 and NGC 2024 (also referred to as W12) have been mapped at 21 cm with a resolution of about 50 arcsec using the Fleurs synthesis telescope. The northern source in M17 is resolved into three components and at the northeastern edge shows good correspondence with the structure of the nebula as observed in the lines of H-alpha and forbidden N II. The sharp optical and radio boundaries in this region are suggestive of an ionization front. The source NGC 2024 is shown to be a double. The two individual components have rms electron densities of about 2000 per cu cm and masses of ionized hydrogen of approximately 0.2 solar mass.
