BVRIJHK photometric and optical spectroscopic observations of two luminous red galaxies are presented. The galaxies, 130526.6+294646 and 130528.0+294624, were located during a deep 2-micron imaging survey and may be primeval galaxies. The galaxies have redshifts of 0.8 and visual-IR color characteristics of a galaxy dominated by an old stellar population, but with a bluer main-sequence turn-off than a current-day elliptical. In addition, consideration is given to a search in which two populations of star forming galaxies with blue optical to IR colors were found.
