Infrared observations of thermal emission from Comet Crommelin on March 28, 1984 obtained with a 3.8-m telescope, and visible dust distribution from March 30, 1984, detected with a Schmidt plate are described. A blackbody spectrum with a temperature of 314 +44, -33 K between 5-20 microns represents the Crommelin observations. From the study of thermal flux the mass of dust in the beam is estimated to be 520,000 kg, and a mass-loss rate of 130 kg/sec is observed. The use of the Mie theory calculations to determine the temperature and emission spectra of grains is investigated; magnetite and composite material grain types are analyzed. It is concluded that the temperature of dust grains is 314 +44, -33 K and the emission is anisotropic.
