Noctilucent clouds were observed over Iran and Syria in the winter of 1972 and over the Baltic in the winter of 1973. Due to the unusual nature of these phenomena at the times and places noted they are described in some detail. Problems relating to the study of noctilucent clouds are discussed, and the need for additional weather stations to view them is affirmed.
