Spectroscopic observations in the red and blue-green are reported for 24 Markarian galaxies. Fifteen of these galaxies are found to exhibit broad emission lines (Seyfert characteristics), while broad emission lines are suspected in the other nine objects. Redshifts are measured, absolute magnitudes are estimated, and Seyfert galaxy types are provisionally indicated. It is shown that 14 of the 24 galaxies are typical Seyferts, that four are most likely Seyfert Type 2 galaxies, and that the remaining six objects might exhibit weak Seyfert characteristics. The bright spiral Mrk 744 is identified as a Seyfert galaxy in an interacting system.
