The distribution of position angles for observed galaxy images has been studied for a 1°.5 diameter field centered on a rich cluster at R.A. 20h49m, Dec. -52°.8. Orientations, major-axis lengths, and rough morphological types were determined for 722 galaxies in the field. Comparison of the observed distribution with numerically generated ones indicates that the data do not reveal any anisotropy in the distribution of galaxy orientations. The results are discussed in the light of previous work and dissipative models of galaxy formation.
