The lines at 6840 A corresponding to the band head (3-0) of the A2Pi3/2-X2Sigma(+)1/2 transition of CS(+) towards the Zeta Oph and Zeta Per lines of sight are not detected from observations recorded with the Coude Echelle Spectrometer at the La Silla ESO. Upper limits of 1.9 x 10 to the 11th/sq cm for Zeta Oph and 1.2 x 10 to the 12th/sq cm for Zeta Per are derived for the column density of CS(+). The conclusion of Ferlet et al. (1983) that the observed feature near 6702 A is mainly due to CS(+) is not confirmed.
