A rapid brightening in the core of 3C 120 was observed in the I and R bands using a 1-m telescope fitted with a CCD. The mean brightening rate was faster than 0.7 mag/d, with short, bright emission features appearing around the core in the early stage of the brightening. Observations were also made of PKS 0349-27, 3C 98, and PKS 0634-20. It was found that protrusions on the outer edge of PKS 0349-27 tend to incline in the clockwise direction and that the extensions of 3C 98 and PKS 0634-20 extend in the northwest and north-south (mainly north) directions, respectively.
