All hadrons that were observed until recently could be classified as either quark-antiquark states (mesons) or three-quark states (baryons). However, QCD permits also hadrons with manifestly more complex structures, such as exotics with a five-quark structure. The results of a search for the Θ+ pentaquark in quasi-real photoproduction on deuterium at the HERMES experiment are presented. The decay mode Θ + -> pK0s -> pπ +π - was studied through the measurement of the pK0s invariant mass spectrum. A |S| = 1 baryon state was observed as a peak in the invariant mass spectrum at 1528 ± 2.6(stat) ± 2.1(syst) MeV. The width is dominated by the experimental resolution.
