The Prognoz-8 Monitor device comprising two electrostatic analyzers was used to measure the energy spectra (in the 0.140 to 4.08 keV./charge range) of the ion component of the solar wind with a time resolution of 1.36 sec and, hence, to investigate the small-scale structure of the solar wind at the front of a sharp increase of plasma-stream velocity. It is shown that, in this region, there exist two plasma streams of different velocity (the velocity gradient being 50 to 70 km/s) having different flow directions. Discontinuities of the kinetic parameters of the ion component are observed over a period of 1.5 to 10 sec.
